    Elizabeth Matto, lovingly known as "Libby," passed away on Sunday, March 29th, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100.

    Born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, she moved with her family to Fairfield, Connecticut, in her early teens. She lived a full and vibrant life marked by her creativity, faith, and dedication to her family.

    Libby was an excellent seamstress, creating beautiful garments and matching dresses for her nieces and their dolls. She had a deep passion for opera, frequently enjoying performances at Cline Memorial. Alongside her sister, Helen, and two friends, Libby embarked on memorable cross-country travels, meticulously navigating with maps. Libby's adventures also included extensive travels through Europe with her sister Helen and Goldie. She was a regular attendee at church, where she also sang in the choir, sharing her love of music with her community.

    In addition to her many talents, Libby found joy in baking traditional Hungarian pastries, delighting family and friends with her treats at gatherings. Family time was often spent playing pinochle or enjoying outdoor activities like croquet and badminton at picnics. She cherished her leisurely strolls around St. Mary's by the Sea, taking in the beauty of nature.

    Libby was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Julia Bodi Matto, as well as her siblings: William, Stephen, Emil, Alex, Goldie, and her twin sister Grace. She is survived by her sister, Helen Matto of Fairfield, and many caring nieces and nephews, including Karen Nebiolo and her husband Tony, Linda Pastor and her husband Bob, Alan Moisio and his wife Eleanor, and Larry Moisio and his wife Patricia, Donna and Myron Reach of Pa., along with numerous loving family members.

    Libby will be dearly missed and remembered for her kindness, creativity, and the warmth she brought to her family and friends.

    Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center, with a prayer service starting at 11:00 AM.
