Obituary of Jeannette S. Jurman
Jeannette Subik Jurman, age 81, of Monroe, devoted wife to the late Rudolf Jurman, Jr., passed away peacefully in her home on July 23, 2017.
She will be remembered by her children, David Jurman of Sandy Hook, Kenneth Jurman and his wife Laura of Rockville, VA, Lisa Cedergren and her husband Robert of Sandy Hook, Jacqueline Van Onselder of Wake Forest, NC, Christopher Jurman of Newtown, Stephen Jurman of Monroe; her cherished grandchildren, Gregory and Erik Jurman, Anna Claire Jurman, Britta, Hunter, and Gunnar Cedergren, Brooke and Andrew Van Onselder; one great grandchild, Jonah Jurman; two sisters, Barbara Gergely of Stratford, Mickie Subik of Bridgeport; several nieces and nephews; former daughter in law, Brenda Jurman; former son in law, Robert Van Onselder. In addition to her beloved husband Rudolf, Jeannette was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Irene Snieder Subik.
Born and raised in Bridgeport, she was a graduate of Bassick High School, and moved to Monroe in 1963. A dedicated loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Jeannette also helped with book keeping and office work for her family's company, Jurman Metrics. Jeannette adored music and was a talented singer. In High School, her choir participated in the All States. A longtime member of the Monroe Congregational Church, she was active in the choir and a volunteer for the Strawberry Festival. She loved to travel with her husband and family, especially to their family vacation home in St. Croix, as well as, to Arizona, Florida, and Europe. A generous person by nature, she touched many people in a positive way throughout her life.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her funeral will be on Friday at 11 AM directly at Monroe Congregational Church 34 Church Street, Monroe. Interment will follow in Monroe Center Cemetery.
