Obituary of Thomas John Devine

Thomas John Devine age 89, of Easton, beloved husband of the late Jean Commorato Devine, entered into eternal rest on February 25, 2017. He will be lovingly remembered by his 5 children, Susan Igoe and husband John of Somers Point, NJ, Diane Mizusawa and husband Lee of Portsmouth, NH, Thomas Devine and wife Susan of New Fairfield, CT, Laura Pehota and husband Joseph of Fairfield, CT, Terence Devine and wife Ann of Fairfield, CT; his grandchildren, Marisa Leggere and her husband Kiel, Sean Igoe and his wife Joanna, Samantha and Molly Mizusawa, Kayte Mills and her husband Ray, Ava Devine, Elizabeth, Michael and Jennifer Pehota, Emily, Patrick and Brendan Devine; great grandchildren, Colin and Ryan Leggere, Isabelle Mills; his sisters, Nora Devine of St. Petersburg, FL, Esther Göbl of Longford, Ireland; as well as many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. In addition to Jean, his devoted wife of 59 years, Tom was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary Ellen Devine (O'Rourke), his sisters Bridie Ragno and Meldie Fratone and a brother Austin Devine. Tom was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. He proudly served in the Navy in WWII and the Korean War. He graduated from Hunter College where he met the love of his life. He lived in Metuchen, NJ, where together, they raised their family until they moved to Easton in 1976. Tom worked as Vice President of Finance for GTE in Stamford for many years before his retirement. Prior to GTE, he was Vice President of Finance for Monroe Group, the Financial Officer at Metro Goldwyn Mayer, and a certified public accountant at Arthur Anderson in NYC. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends, enjoyed golfing at his home at PGA in Palm Beach Gardens, loved music and playing the piano. A devout Catholic, Tom was a parishioner at St. Pius X and a member of the Gaelic American Club. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM directly at St. Pius X Church 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment with full military honor will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
