Obituary of Karen A. Maddock

Karen A. Maddock, age 79, of Fairfield, devoted wife of Bruce Maddock, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2017. In addition to Bruce, her beloved husband of 57 years, Karen's memory will be embraced by her son, Charles Maddock and his wife Erin, of Seattle, WA; her son-in-law, Brian O'Connell, of Newburyport, MA; her sister, Linda Hinchliffe and her husband Daniel, of Asheville, NC; Many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Anne O'Connell. Born in Port Huron, Michigan to the late George and Ruth Toutant Aldridge, Karen was a graduate of the University of Michigan, and later received her Masters in Language and her Sixth Year Teaching Certification from Fairfield University. She was a French language teacher for the Weston, Fairfield, and Bridgeport School systems before her retirement. She also tutored students privately throughout her career as a dedicated teacher. Helping her students discover the beauty of the French language gave Karen great satisfaction. A loving wife and mother, Karen enjoyed world travel, especially France and parts of Europe For many years, she sailed with her husband and was a member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary and Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 26th from 2-6 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center, with a prayer at 5 PM. Her interment will be private.
