Brian P. Klarman, age 64, of Westport, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 10, 2017 of natural causes. Born in New York on February 2, 1953, son of the late Howard and Betty Klarman, Brian was a Westport and Fairfield Town resident for much of his life. A gifted artist as a child, Brian discovered music in his early teens which he pursued throughout his early life. He graduated from Staples High School in 1970 and went on to study music at Berklee School of Music and New England Conservatory, in Boston, graduating in Jazz studies with his Bachelor of Arts Degree. Brian played both solo and in various bands throughout the years including an extraordinary performance with "Buddy" Miles and the James Cotton Blues Band in 1969; as a regularl pianist at Windows on the World at the former World Trade Center in NYC; with a jazz trio in Richmond, Virginia; and as the pianist for the 6 year long PBS Series "American Experience" showcasing documentaries on American history. In addition to a music career, Brian spent many years as a devoted caregiver for his father, Howard. In 2013 Brian developed Transvers Myelitis, a rare spinal disorder, which left him paralyzed. Brian's family would like to express their thanks to Lilly Hernandez, Peto Balle and their family for their dedication, support and care of Brian through that time. He is survived by his sister, Randi Brawley of Easton, nephews Jake and Luke Brawley and nieces Michele and Jillian Klarman. In addition to his parents, Brian was predeceased by his brother Bill. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 23 from 4-6 pm at the home of his sister, Randi Brawley, 140 Banks Rd., Easton, Ct.
