George and I entered RU together as freshmen and by sheer happenstance were housed just a room apart on the same floor of Campbell Hall. We became fast friends - "db's" in his lingo - and I have clear and amazingly fond memories. We both began the pledge process for Zeta Psi, and while George continued, I did not, dropping out of college after this year, only to return a year later to pledge Alpha Chi Rho. George and I didn't re-connect in any meaningful way after this, but our freshman year at Campbell has been dear to my heart, and George's friendship at that time taught me a great deal and has stayed with me ever since. I hope it was reciprocal in some small way. When I saw the notice in the Alumni Notes of the Rutgers Alumni Magazine, and read his short bio, It cemented what I already knew, that I was quite fortunate to have had the pleasure and benefit to have shared, even briefly, this moment with a truly rare individual. My heart goes out to his family and close friends. And, George buddy, may you rest in peace.

Dear Family: We used to visit with Ciocia Kostyra and Ed and Martha when we were children. My father and mother, Stanislaus and Maria Akielaszek were very fond of the Kostyras and Dad and Ed were first cousins. I am so sorry that George has gone on so soon, too soon. I only remember him as a boy and have not had the chance to visit with him since he was grown. I am glad my sister, Chris Fanelli was able to visit George once or twice since her mother-in-law lives in Connecticut also. Our parents died in 2003 one after the other and not a day goes by that I don't wish I could have another moment with them. I send you our love and wish you whatever you need to help you through these days ahead.

I don't know your family. Martha Stewart, but felt like I did from watching so many of your shows.
I am truly sorry for your loss and the ultimate and untimely loss to your family. Family is the most important thing in life, in my opinion. I always enjoyed the times "Big Martha" would be on your shows and her invaluable knowledge and then you'd always refer to your brother, George, and it was apparent you were definitely a family oriented people.
My LOVE and prayers to you, your brother's family and other siblings.

My condolences to his family and friends. A.though I didn't know him personally I found a comforting scripture. In Rev. 21:4 "and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
