Obituary of Mary Sandshaw

Mary Bohannan Sandshaw, age 99, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Edward N. Sandshaw Sr., passed away peacefully on Monday, March 26, 2018.

Born in Stamford on July 20, 1918, daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie Ryan Bohannan, Mary had been a lifelong Fairfield Town resident. She had worked for the Southern New England Telephone Co. for many years until her retirement. Mary was a devout Catholic and faithfully prayed to St. Jude. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and never missed celebrating St. Patricks Day. Mary was an avid New York Yankees fan. She also enjoyed playing Pinochle and Scrabble with her family and cherished all the good times with her Country Road neighbors. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Joan Tessier and her husband Ed of Southington, Mary Ellen Antal and Judy Pyrch and her husband Marty, all of Trumbull, a son Jeff Sandshaw and his wife JoAnn of Hebron, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Edward " Sandy " Sandshaw Jr and brothers Joseph, Tip, Robert, Gene and Al Bohannan.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3 at 10 am directly at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Rd., Fairfield with burial to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday  from 4-8 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
