Obituary of Alice S. Barnett

Alice S. Barnett, age 94, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late James A. Barnett, Sr., entered into eternal life on Saturday, April 14, 2018.

The daughter of the late Ervil and Alice Dechamps, Alice was a lifelong Fairfield resident and a 1942 graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School. She was a charter member of the Bridgeport WATES Club and  the American Legion Auxillary. Alice enjoyed baking wedding cakes for her children, family, and friends, baking Christmas meat pies, and canning and freezing vegetables.  She would faithfully watch the Lawrence Welk and Liberace shows and enjoyed Polka music and dancing with her beloved husband. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Alice took great pleasure in her children and grandchildren’s school and sporting events, traveling with her husband and family, and the family cruise to the Caribbean Islands with her son and daughters.

Alice’s memory will be lovingly remembered by her children, James A. Barnett, Jr., and his wife, Betty Lou, of Stratford, Sandra L. Cruz, and her husband, Antonio, of Watertown, Douglas J. Barnett, and his wife, Denise, of Monroe, Joanne M. Pinto, and her husband, Jorge, Sr., of Fairfield, and Karen A. Cordone, and her husband, Greg, of Stratford; her beloved grandchildren, Dorthea Repko, Raymond Seitz, Jr., Kimberly Mckeown, James Barnett, III, Cindy Buynovsky, Wallace Denzel, Antonio Cruz, Jr., Matthew Cruz, Alyssa Barnett, Jaime Barnett, Jorge Pinto, Jr., Sarah DePeano, and Gregory Cordone, Jr.; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alma (Wood) Knight, and her husband, Ronald, of Fairfield. In addition to her loving husband, James, Alice was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl A. Seitz; a grandson, Daniel Seitz; and two sisters, Vivian Goyette and Dorothy Boyd.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will take place on Friday, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home and 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Fairfield. Her graveside committal will be on Monday at 11 AM in Lawncroft Cemetery.
