Pearl M. Pavel, age 106 of Southport, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 7, 2018 after a brief illness.

Born in Bridgeport on January 12, 1912, Pearl had been a Bridgeport resident for most of her life. She had worked as a private cook for the Fairfield Jesuit community. Pearl was a devout catholic and attended the former St. Stephen's Church of Bridgeport and St. Emery's Church of Fairfield. She was given the St. Augustine Medal of Honor for the many years of volunteerism in the catholic community. She was a member of the Father Coleman Council Columbiettes as well. Pearl was very proud of her Hungarian heritage and especially enjoyed making her Hungarian specialties to share with family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Emery Pavel and his wife Maggie of North Carolina, a daughter Marianne Scinto and her husband Jefferson of Southport, grandchildren Jefferson Scinto Jr., Christian Scinto, John Scinto, Kimberely Fisco and her husbend Noel and John Pavel. Pearl leaves behind her great-grandchildren Christian and Caroline Scinto as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands Eugene Pavel and James Bodner as well as several siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 am directly at St. Emery's Church, 838 Kings Hwy, Fairfield with burial to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-8 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center.
