Mary Mastroni Martone, age 98, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, wife of the late James Martone, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Born in Bridgeport November 9, 1919, daughter of the late Dominick and Elizabeth Simmons Mastroni, Mary was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. She had worked for the Dictaphone Co and Sikorsky Aircraft and later as a Sheriff at the state courthouse for the State of Connecticut. Mary was also active in Bridgeport politics, was a member of the Republican Town Committee and served on the Board of Public Purchases. Mary was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishoner of St. Ann's Church in Black Rock. She was an avid New York Yankees and UCONN Girls Basketball fan and also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. Mary was a very caring person who was loved by many. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughter Marianne Martone Holecz and her husband Peter of Black Rock, a grandson Brian Holecz and his wife Jenn, a granddaughter Denise Holecz Larka and her husband Erik, great-granddaughter Adara Holecz and great-grandsons Camden and Pacey Larka. She leaves behind her sisters Eleanor Mastroni ( Dorie ) of Stratford, Betty Mastroni Pelletier of Bridgeport, brothers James Mastroni ( Cynthia ) of Southbury, Frank Mastroni of Colorado and Michael Mastroni ( Nancy ) of Arizona as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Anthony, Lenny and Robert Mastroni and a sister Irene Mastroni Marshall. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:15 am in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center and at 11 am at St. Ann Church, Brewster St., Bridgeport.
