Obituary of Janice Solomon

Janice Salica Solomon, age 68, of Fairfield, beloved wife of Robert Solomon, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018. Janice was born on December 11, 1949, in Brooklyn, NY, where she grew up, and was a Fairfield town resident for the past 10 years.

She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Theresa Purpura Salica, and a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, class of 1969. She had worked for Pytex and Kenmill as a textile designer early in her career, and later for Gussco Manufacturing and Lee Spring in accounts receivable until her retirement. Janice was an avid reader and talented artist. She was also involved in Fairfied politics as a member of the Fairfield RTM for several years.

Janice will be lovingly remembered as an outgoing person who was a friend to all. Most of all, she cherished the times that she could spend with her grandchildren. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to Robert, her loving husband of 47 years, she is survived by her daughter, Kristine Solomon of NYC, her son, Brian Solomon and his wife Jaimee of Bridgeport, and her beloved grandchildren, Layla, Jack, and Peter Solomon. Calling hours will be held in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield, Ct., on Monday from 4-8 pm and Tuesday from 4-8 pm. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am in Holy Family Church, Stratfield Rd., Fairfield with her entombment to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Astoria Queens, NY.
