Obituary of Robert P. Rouse

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert Patrick Rouse, age 87, of Milford, formerly of Bridgeport, husband of the late Catherine Oross Rouse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, son of the late Francis and Anna Larkin Rouse, Bob was a lifelong Bridgeport resident before moving to Milford three years ago. Bob went on to serve his country in the US Air Force having been stationed in Germany and later to work as a supervisor for the Bridgeport WPCA for over 35 years until his retirement.

He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Emery's Church where he was a member of the Secular Franciscan Ministry and belonged to Holy Name Society, the church choir, and served as an usher. Bob also served St. Ann Church in Bridgeport as a Eucharistic Minister. He belonged to the Park City Pride Drum and Bugle Corps, where he marched into his 80's.

Bob was very proud of his Irish heritage and had traveled to Ireland several times. He enjoyed painting and artwork and was a self proclaimed comedian. More than anything, Bob loved the time that he could spend with his family. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be greatly missed.

Bob is survived by his adored children, Kathy Brunetto-Rouse of Bridgeport, Madeline Svirskas, and her husband, Bill of York, PA, Eileen Fetchick, and her husband, Drew, of Sandy Hook, Mary Cannon, of Milford, and Patrick Rouse, and his wife, Lisa, also of Milford. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Matthew Brunetto, Maggie Wyant and Daniel Brunetto, Trisha Wade, Stephen Svirskas, Kristen Fetchick, Nathan, Mariah and Benjamin Cannon and Kyle and Meghan Rouse; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Eli, Shaylee, Alexya, Kyle, Leah and Asher; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Ryan Fetchick; brothers, William and James Rouse; and sisters, Anna Cszmadia and Mary Baker.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. in St. Emery's Church, Kings Highway, Fairfield with burial to follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport with full Military Honors. Friends may call at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
