Obituary of Dorothy N Provey

Dorothy Natalie Provey, age 94, wife of the late Joseph Peter Provey entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at the Jewish Home in Bridgeport, CT.
Dorothy was born in Manhattan, NY on October 4, 1926 to the late Renato and Mae (LaFalce) Vanderbit. Her father was from the province of Cosenza, Italy and her mother was from the province of Naples, Italy. Dorothy graduated Newtown High School in Elmhurst, NY in 1944 before going to work at Bell Telephone.
Her real career, however, began with the births of her three sons that spanned the 1950s. She was a devoted wife and made a wonderful home for them in the woods and hills of Norwalk, CT where she encouraged their creativity at young ages. Their pursuits, many of which are life-long, included music, painting, gardening, interior design, mechanics, construction and architecture.
Dorothy was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Joseph; her older brother, Renald “Bud” Vanderbit; her older sister, Margaret Spakowski. Dorothy is survived by sons Joseph R. Provey and his wife, Mary Ann; Roger J. Provey and his wife Robin; Vance Provey and his wife Julia. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Joseph E. Provey and his wife Erin, Renald Provey and his wife Candice, Corinna Provey, Shaina Provey, Roger Q. Provey, Coelena Provey, Brendan Provey, Olivia Provey, William Provey, and Eva Provey; as well as her four beautiful great grandchildren; Joseph Rosw-Provey, Elijah Provey, Teddy Provey, and Rosie Provey.
The family will hold a private service on June 19th, at Monroe Center Cemetery.
