Obituary of William J. Csontos
William John Csontos, Jr, age 79, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, June 8th, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born December 15th, 1941, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of the late William and Margaret Grega Csontos.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Betty, William’s memory is embraced by his children, William L. Csontos, and his wife, Zein, of Avon, CT; Maribeth C. Devine, and her husband, Thomas, of Norwalk; Step-daughter Kimberly Ann Pierwola, and her husband, David Rupar, of Stratford, CT; his grandchildren, Mia Csontos, Claire, Jack, and Charlie Devine; former wife and dear friend Mary E. Niedermeier; his brother-in-law, Daniel Dlugos; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was also predeceased by his sister, Margaret Csontos Dlugos.
Born in Bridgeport, William graduated from Saint Ann’s in Bridgeport, Fairfield Preparatory School in 1959 and Fairfield University in 1963. At an early age, William worked in the Family business, Csontos Garage in Bridgeport. After College, he worked at Raybestos in Stratford and retired as an Executive for Southern New England Telephone in New Haven, CT.
He was a member of St. Ann Church Parish Men's Club, Black Rock Yacht Club and Fayerweather Yacht Club. William immensely enjoyed sailing, traveling to St. Maarten and spending time at Uncle Danny’s Cabin in New Hampshire with family. William felt blessed and had a great appreciation for life….he gave back to those less fortunate by donating his time to the Black Rock Food Pantry. Most of all, he cherished the time with his family and friends. William's free time was spent caring for his four grandchildren,"Pals Forever”.
William's kind, down-to-earth and reassuring way will be remembered by those whom he touched in life.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 6 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 14th at 11:00 AM directly in St. Ann Church. His interment in Mountain Grove Cemetery will be private.
