Obituary of Jose Gosp

Please share a memory of Jose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jose Gosp, age 87, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Ana Maria Rivera Gosp, peacefully entered into eternal life with his family by his side on Thursday, August 19, 2021.

Born in Spain to the late Eduardo and Ana Sendra Gosp, Jose moved to Fairfield when he was a teenager. He served for the United States Army in 1953, became a citizen in 1954, and was discharged in 1955. From there, Jose worked at Carpenter Steel as a steel worker for 30 years in Bridgeport until he retired in 1987. He continued working as a painter, and enjoyed tending to his garden, traveling and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his kindness, good heart, and willingness to help anyone. For years, Jose donated to St Jude's Children's Hospital and Pyramid Shriners.

In addition to his loving wife of 57 years, Ana Maria Rivera Gosp, Jose is survived by his son and wife, Jose A. and Andrea Gosp; his daughter, Ana Maria Gosp Kurowski; and grandchildren, Rudy, Ciara, and Alex Kurowski, and Blythe and Brittany Gosp. His dogs Carlos and Rico will also miss him dearly.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. directly at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Mountain Grove of Easton Cemetery, Harvester Road, Easton.
