Joseph Anthony Amoroso, age 91, of Bridgeport, husband of the late Audrey Wales Amoroso, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Born and raised in Torrington, CT, son of the late Domenic and Fannie Marciano Amoroso, Joseph had moved to Bridgeport and was a city resident for most of his life before moving to Trumbull fifteen years ago. He was a proud Marine, having served his country during the Korean War. Every day he would raise the American and Marine Corp Flag.

He later went on to work for Bridgeport Machines for over 25 years until his retirement. Papa Joe enjoyed cooking, gardening, movies, and going to parades. He especially enjoyed celebrating Christmas by having the brightest house in the neighborhood. A volunteer with the “Young Marines of The Valley” and the “Park City Little League”. A much-loved quartermaster and bus driver with the “Trumbull Cadets” and “Bengal Lancers Jr. Drum and Bugle Corps” of Trumbull.

Together with his wife Audrey they began a tradition of weekly family nights where he would cook his famous sauce. Every Friday night was family night, even the neighborhood children would join. He loved being “Papa Joe”. They are treasures of happy memories for all. Papa Joe lived every moment for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

His memory will be cherished by his sons, Joseph ( Jay ) Amoroso of Stratford and Jeff Amoroso and his wife Geri of Bridgeport, five grandchildren, Brandon Amoroso and his wife Bernadette, Josh Amoroso, Beth Spear and her husband Corey and Jessye and Jenna Amoroso and great-grandchildren Alexis and Audrianna Amoroso and Reese Spear.  He leaves behind his brothers Anthony and Felix Amoroso and sisters Mary Saccol, Antoinette Avery and Annie Samperi as well as many nieces and nephews.
