Obituary of Erno Aranyi

Please share a memory of Erno to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Erno Aranyi, age 75, of Easton, beloved husband of Catalina Matyas Aranyi, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021.

Born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, son of the late Lajos and Johanna Percsi Aranyi, Mr. Aranyi emigrated to the United States in 1966 and had been an Easton Town resident since 1986. He was a United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. He later went on to work for Medtronic Co. as a mechanical engineer where he was very well known and considered to be a genius and a legend in the design of surgical instruments.

He held 235 patents (more than any other engineer). Mr. Aranyi received many awards for his designs over the years and also mentored the newer engineers and retired with distinction in 2016 after 37 years. Erno was very proud of his Hungarian heritage, he was part of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Wallingford and enjoyed participating in the various church events. He especially liked his Hungarian specialty foods and cheeseburgers. Erno also enjoyed building and flying his model airplanes.

In addition to Catalina, his loving wife of 37 years, he leaves behind his daughter, Krisztina Aranyi; and a sister, Maria Aranyi, all of Easton; a Goddaughter, Tunde Miklos, of Bethany; a cousin, Joe Kohlami; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins in Hungary.
