Obituary of Helen B. Warner

Helen Warner, age 89, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2022. She was born in Bridgeport to the late George and Argheri Bouras. She was a long-time member of St. Pius X Church. Helen was renowned for her baking skills, baking Greek Easter bread for friends, family, and neighbors. She enjoyed dancing, exercise classes at the Fairfield Senior Center, and was an avid gardener. She especially enjoyed going to Jennings Beach to relax in the sun. Helen was a blessing and emotional support to her family, who she loved unconditionally. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and sent cards to celebrate everyone's milestones. She will be missed for her kindness, generosity, and friendship. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank A. Warner of 57 years. Helen will be remembered fondly by her children, Kathy McCollum, and her husband, Rick, of Bridgeport and Matthew Warner, and his wife, Judy of Fairfield; two grandsons, Matthew Scott Warner and Mark William Warner, who affectionately called her "Yiayia"; her sister, Frances DeMattia, and her husband, Donald, of Fairfield; nieces and nephews, Rick and Robin Boughton, Mark, Debbie, and George DeMattia, and Gheri Kaufman. In addition to her husband, Frank, she was predeceased by her sister, Anna Christon, and her husband, Angelo; and sisters-in-law, Frances Boughton and Rita Vetre. Helen graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport in 1950. She began her career with the UI, where she met her best friend, Shirley Nilan, they remained friends, talking daily for the rest of her life. Helen also worked for the Diocese of Bridgeport, at the St. Pius X Rectory, and retired after 25 years of service. Helen loved her family and friends immensely and will truly be missed by all with whom she touched. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.
