Obituary of Peter M. Siconolfi

Please share a memory of Peter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Peter M. Siconolfi, age 96, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Anna Colozza Siconolfi, entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

Peter was born in Olyphant, PA to the late Michael and Maria DeMatteo Siconolfi. At 17 years old, Peter enlisted in the United States Army to proudly serve our country during World War II. He fought with the 11th Armored Tank Division and fought in Normandy in the Battle of the Bulge, and also battled in Germany, Czechoslovakia, and in the Alps in Austria, where they met the Russians in the town of Linz, all under the command of George S. Patton, 3rd Army.

After the war, Peter was stationed in Washington, DC, where he served as a courier in the Pentagon and the White House during President Harry S. Truman's Presidency. After the service, when Peter returned to civilian life, he took advantage of the GI Bill and went to welding school, mechanic school, and carpentry school. He did most of his own repairs and remodeling in his home.

Peter went back to school and earned his high school diploma, and then went on to get his Real Estate license. He worked at Sikorsky Aircraft for around 35 years where he was a Foreman. When Peter retired from Sikorsky, he built a replica of a 1929 Mercedes Benz SSK. He and his wife, Ann, did the upholstery for the car and they enjoyed taking Sunday drives in the car. Peter took the car to several car shows and won many trophies.

He played the accordion, guitar, and organ for his own enjoyment. When he first learned to play the accordion, he only knew how to play Spanish Eyes, so he always played that song at family birthdays and holidays. No matter what occasion it was, he eventually learned to play Happy Birthday, and everyone was overjoyed not to have to hear Spanish Eyes. When he played the organ, he would play some of the old Big Band songs and his wife would dance around the room while he played.

Peter had an Italian Greyhound named Caesar and he was so loved by Peter and Ann. They did not have any children, so he was their baby. On holidays, Peter would tell stories about the years he spent in Italy when he was a child and the experiences he encountered while living there and his grandparents, uncles, and aunts, whom he loved so much, then he would tell his war stories and loved that the family enjoyed hearing them. We all loved him and will miss him dearly.

Peter loved having visitors and went to the Edge Fitness five days a week to exercise and enjoyed the friends he met there. His neighbors were so kind and thoughtful and always checked up on him if he needed anything.

Peter's memory will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Guy Siconolfi, of Jensen Beach, FL and Yolanda Kupchick, and her husband, Stephen, of Stratford; nieces and nephews, Nicholas Siconolfi, Joann Chiodo, and her husband, Charles, Anthony Siconolfi, and his wife, Wendy, Michael Siconolfi, and his wife, Jean, Stephen Kupchick, and his wife, Grace, and Peter Kupchick, and his wife, Brenda; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many dear friends, including Linda Hefferon and Joan Burke. In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Siconolfi, and her husband, Joseph; a sister-in-law, Judy Siconolfi; and a niece, Linda Kupchick Smith.
