Obituary of Dennis Balogh

Please share a memory of Dennis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dennis G. Balogh, 72, passed away on Wednesday April 20, 2022 at his home surrounded by his cherished friends.

Born on December 1, 1949 in Bridgeport, he was the only child of the late Geza and Elizabeth (Gomkioto) Balogh. Dennis graduated from Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield. He was a longtime resident of Torrington. He worked at LARC and Baroco, Inc. until his retirement in 2019. Dennis was an avid sports fan who enjoyed every type of athletic competition.  He was particularly fond of football, and had an extensive collection of football helmets, jerseys, ball caps and balls, which he kept proudly on display in his home. His favorite vacations were those that surrounded football, such as going to see Notre Dame, and attending Superbowl XLV. Dennis was a first generation American, but also very proud of his Hungarian heritage. He found great joy in indulging in his favorite foods, and that simple pleasure turned every meal into a celebration of life for him. In his younger years, prior to moving to Torrington, Dennis was an active member of Calvin United Church of Christ in Fairfield. Dennis had a wonderful sense of humor, and was quick to share his infectious laugh with all around him. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his many friends.

A graveside service will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Stratford on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 11am. All are welcome.
