Obituary of Alma Wood Knight
Alma Rose Dechamps Wood Knight, age 92, of Fairfield, beloved wife of Ronald Knight, entered into eternal life on October 13, 2018 at home with her loving family by her side.
Born in Bridgeport to the late Ervil and Alice Goyette Dechamps, Alma was a 1944 graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School. She had worked for Dictaphone before having her children and becoming a homemaker. When her children were older, Alma became a food service supervisor for Van Doren Convalescent Home, (now Ludlowe Health Care). Alma took great pleasure in singing, especially with the Singing Sweethearts. She also enjoyed knitting, arts and crafts. A devout Catholic, she was a choir member and active volunteer at St. Pius X Church.
In addition to her husband, Ronald Knight, of Fairfield, Alma’s memory will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sharon Chaco, and her husband, Michael, of Milford, Charles Wood, Jr., and his wife, Gail, of Monroe, Alan Wood, and his wife, Joann, of Fairfield, and Brian Wood, and his wife, Patricia, of Bridgeport and a son in-law Thomas Kuehn, of SC; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. After the death of her first husband, Alma was blessed to have married Ronald and share 25 years with his children, Mary Knight Grant, and her husband, Bill, of Virginia, Michael Knight, and his wife, Darlene, of Fairfield, Thomas Knight, and his wife, Barbara, of Wallingford, Joseph Knight, and his wife Sue, of Shelton, John Knight, of Fairfield, Theresa Readey, and her husband, Tom, of Wallingford, Kevin Knight, and his wife Maria, of Rhode Island; 13 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and first husband, Charles Wood, Alma was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Taylor Kuehn; and three sisters, Alice Barnett, Vivian Goyette, and Dorothy Boyd.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 10:30 AM Directly at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 4 to 8 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center.
