Obituary of Marie Therese Cotter

Marie E. Cotter, of Stratford, passed away on May 31, 2022, in her home from heart complications.

A lifelong resident of the town and a parishioner at Our Lady of Grace Parish, she was a graduate of the Stratford school system and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dental Hygene Program. She then worked for the Stratford Board of Education as a dental hygenist. After raising her family she returned to work at Thomas F. English, Inc., a plumbing and heating supply company in Bridgeport that was founded by her father. Her passions were family, gardening, traveling, and dining out.

Marie was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Mary Sullivan English. She was predeceased by siblings Thomas F. English Jr., Raymond Fildes, and Pauline Martin, and former husband Frederick W. Cotter. She is survived by her two children, Sr. Celeste A. Cotter CSJ and Frederick W. Cotter Jr., sister in law Barbara English, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday (June 5,2022) from 3-7 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM in Our Lady of Grace Church 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, with interment to follow in St. Michaels Cemetery.
