Obituary of RoseAnn Hickey
Please share a memory of RoseAnn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
RoseAnn Hickey, age 72, of Groton, beloved wife of 52 years to John Hickey, entered into eternal life on Sunday, June 19, 2022, in the arms of her loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
RoseAnn was born in Englewood, NJ to the late Charles and Frances Esposito Scamporino, and attended Cliffside Park High School. On January 17, 1970, RoseAnn married her sweetheart, John. They met as pen pals, while John lived in Ireland and they fell in love instantly. John moved to America to be with his love and eventually they moved to Suffern, New York where they raised their two children. She was a loving, generous, kind and compassionate mother and wife.
RoseAnn loved to travel with her family. The sandy beaches of Aruba, parrot jungle in Florida or gambling on a cruise ship were some of her favorite times with family. She had great love for all animals, big and small, especially her dog, Lucy and was a supporter of the ASPCA. She enjoyed caring for all of the wildlife in the area, and no animal would go hungry on her watch. RoseAnn took great pleasure in crossword puzzles, music, especially Neil Diamond and Bon Jovi and occasional trips to the casino. She enjoyed shopping for the holidays, barbecues with family, and watching her kids and grandkids sporting events and concerts. What brought her the most joy was spending quality time with her family and her dog, Lucy.
RoseAnn made every holiday, occasion and celebration special with her caring and thoughtful ways, crazy decorations and contagious spirit. She demonstrated caring and loyalty to her family through everything she did. A loving and devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, RoseAnn was always there for a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen no matter what time of day or night. She will be missed terribly. Although we know you are in a better place with no pain we are incredibly sad to say good-bye to an incredible person and the heart and soul of our family. We treasure every minute we had with you.
In addition to her devoted husband, John, RoseAnn is survived by her son, John Hickey, and his wife, Christine, of Montvale, NJ; her daughter, Fran Nolan, and her husband, Kevin, of Fairfield; her adored grandchildren, Shannon Nolan, Katie Nolan, Emily Nolan, Jack Nolan, Lindsey Nolan, Keira Hickey, and Regan Hickey; a sister, Theresa Scamporino; a brother, Charles Scamporino; nieces, Audri and Nikki; a nephew, Christopher, and her beloved dog, Lucy.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield.
