Obituary of Andrew M. Crawford

Please share a memory of Andrew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Andrew M. Crawford, 52, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 after a brave and valiant fight against colorectal cancer. Andrew was born on July 31, 1970 in New York, NY to Meredith and Monique Crawford.

He grew up in Wilton, CT and attended high school at The Frederick Gunn School, formerly The Gunnery (1989); he was Head Prefect of his class. For college, Andrew attended The University of Pennsylvania (1993), and received an MBA from The Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan (2000). Andrew was a member of the crew team at both The Gunnery and the University of Pennsylvania and was a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Michigan Men’s Rowing Team during his time in Ann Arbor. Professionally, for the last ten years, Andrew served as Chief Commercial Officer at BM Technologies and was proud to be part of the executive team to take the company public in 2021, but even prouder to work with a team of people he considered family.

In June of 2000, Andrew married Amy Elizabeth Gall of Peotone, IL in Wilton, CT and shortly after lived in the Boston area where they had their two children, Madeline and Benjamin. They then moved to Fairfield, CT where they have resided as a family for the last 15 years.

Andrew was profoundly devoted to his family and loved being a husband and father. He shared his lifelong passion for skiing by teaching his children to ski and he loved being on the slopes. He coached little league baseball and Wakeman basketball teams, and wept with abounding pride every single time he watched his daughter take the stage to dance.

Andrew was an ardent reader, history and trivia enthusiast, and he genuinely loved life. He had the great fortune to be surrounded by a community of the most loyal family and friends who loved him for his wicked sense of humor and sharp wit, his gentleness and bravery, and his love of playing tennis, paddle, golf and cribbage.

Andrew is survived by his beloved wife Amy and their two incredible children: Madeline (Maddy) and Benjamin (Ben) Crawford. Andrew is also survived by his sister Jennifer Crawford (Alan Manski) of Buderim, AU; his stepbrother William (Susan) Kosar; his mother-in-law, Sandra Gall of Peotone, IL; his sister-in-law Theresa Fitzpatrick (Jack) of Falls Church, VA; his brother-in-law, Mark Gall (Nicole) of Peotone, IL; and his nieces and nephews: Sasha Manski, Elizabeth and Robert Kosar, Eloise and Hunter Fitzpatrick, Emerson, Lilla, and Reid Gall and Louis Sirois.

Andrew is also survived by his aunts: Susan Crawford of Washington, DC and Leontine Radler (Warren) of Chicago, IL; cousins Laura Roberts (Mark Montgomery) of Three Oak; MI and Kristin Hettinger (Tim) of Sandy, UT; James Radler of Winnetka, IL; Jennifer Radler of Chicago, IL and their families.

Andrew was predeceased by his parents: his father, Meredith Crawford 1939-1981); his mother, Monique Van Lent Crawford Kosar (1940 - 2018); his step-father, Robert Kosar (1929-2017); his father-in-law, Edward Gall (1938 – 2022); his aunt, Ann Crawford (1941 - 1983); and his cousin, Monica Knoll (1964-2011).

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Rd, Fairfield, CT, to be followed by a reception at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church Memorial Room. Burial services will be private.
