Obituary of Frances I. Hope
Frances Isabel Hope, age 81, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late William Hope, entered into eternal life on Monday, October 24, 2022.
Frances was born in the Bronx, NY, raised in Milford, daughter of the late George and Helen Chmile Carrick and had been a Shelton resident for many years. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Lawrence Parish Church and had been a member in the church choir where she sang tenor. Along with her husband Bill, Frances was very active with the Barnum Festival and was a past co-parade marshal and a past manager of the Tom Thumb/Lavinia Warren competition. In earlier years she was involved in the Milford and Shelton PTA's. Frances was a member of the Sterling Ski Club as both a member and past president. She also was a past member of the Sterling softball team. She belonged to the Old Ripton Garden Club.
A talented crafter and seamstress, Frances enjoyed making elaborate Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren and had a passion for decorating her home for the holidays as well as the Osborne Homestead Museum. She loved to travel, especially to Paris, Rome and Alaska and enjoyed the times spent at her beach house in Lordship and at her camp in Windsor, VT. Her passion was her 4 grandchildren and spending time with them. She also helped her friends with “Fran’s Van” taking their children to various places.
Survivors include her son, Michael Hope, and his wife, Karin, of Milford; grandchildren, Maggie Hope, Devin Hope, Aidan Hope, and Gabby Hope; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Bill, she was predeceased by her son, Christopher Hope; daughter, Victoria Hope; and grandchildren, Tristan, Ian, and Ricky Hope.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Avenue, Shelton, CT 06484. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Milford. Arrangements in the care of the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home.
