Obituary of William J McGrath

William Joseph McGrath, 58, most recently of Shelton, Connecticut, formerly from New Jersey, passed away on November 7, 2022 after a long illness. Bill was born on March 10, 1964 to William and Joan McGrath in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from DePaul High School Wayne, NJ in 1982, he went on to major in Psychology and Education and minor in History at King's College Wilkes-Barre PA. Bill always kept up with the latest developments in his chosen field and just loved American History. After graduation, Bill returned to DePaul High School to teach and coach soccer, basketball and track. He also coached at the collegiate level at Caldwell College. Bill also ran a successful Soccer Summer Camp instilling a love for the game to all ages and abilities. He had an amazing ability to connect with his students and athletes on a personal as well as academic/athletic level. However, he considered his greatest gift and accomplishment to be his son Billy. Bill was predeceased by his father, William P. McGrath; uncles, John, Jim, Donnie McGrath, Kermit Gilman and Frank Shannon; and aunt Mary Shannon (nee McGrath). Bill is survived by his son, William T. McGrath; his mother, Joan McGrath; aunt Catherine Gilman, sister, Ann Adriani, and her husband Philip; and nieces, Kate and Sara Adriani. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church Pompton Lakes, NJ on December 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM. A Memorial Mass will be at Notre Dame of Easton Church Easton Connecticut December 13, 2022 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the William J. McGrath Memorial Fund.
