Obituary of Sherry DeSabella
Sherry Iassogna DeSabella, age 72, of Fairfield, beloved wife to Joseph DeSabella, entered into eternal rest on November 25, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with diabetes. Born and raised in Bridgeport, Sherry was the daughter to the late Bernard and Dorothy (Kiel) Iassogna . Sherry graduated from Bullard Havens Tech where she studied Design. She was a retired case worker for the Kennedy Center.
Sherry was a loving, devoted, and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was always present and proud to attend all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild’s sporting events, activities and accomplishments. They were always her number one priority and she was all of their biggest fan! She was a volunteer and a Board of Director for the Fairfield National Little League where she received numerous awards for her 25 years of service and a volunteer and a Board of Director for the Fairfield Pop Warner Football League. She was one of the first women to join the Fairfield Pop Warner Football League Board. She enjoyed playing cards (pinochle) with friends and family, bowling, ceramics, cooking (for everyone), and spending valuable time with her friends and family.
In addition to her devoted husband, Joseph, of 53 years, Sherry’s memory will be cherished by her loving children, Tina Mauro, and her husband, Benjamin, of Shelton, Joseph DeSabella ,and his wife, Stacy, of Fairfield, Anthony DeSabella, and his wife, Rita, of Trumbull, Matthew DeSabella, and his wife, Cat, of Trumbull; grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Ashley Mauro, Olivia and Carly DeSabella, Jenna and Anthony DeSabella, Aubrey, Autumn, and Sophie Sancho; great grandchild, Kayden McDonald; a brother, Bernard Iassogna, and his wife, Odete ,of Bridgeport; a brother in-law, Nicholas DeSabella, of Stratford, a sister in-law, Theresa Palmieri, and her husband, Michael, of Stratford; a special aunt, Mary (Maisie) Iassogna, of Bridgeport; a special cousin, Richard Pazik, and his wife, Linda, of Florida; a special Uncle Ron Vitale of Trumbull; and several aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Shamrock Home Care staff, St. Josephs Manor staff, The DaVita Black Rock Dialysis staff, and the GBT staff for their care of Sherry.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday 11 AM at St. Emery Church, with her burial to follow at Lawncroft Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center.
