Mary Lavtar Grasic, age 98, of Shelton, loving wife of the late Ignac Grasic, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023 with her daughter Maria by her side.

Born in Skofja Loka, Slovenia on September 10, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Karol and Marija Kalan Lavtar. Mary lived in Bridgeport for many years before moving to Shelton. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Cross Church of Fairfield where she was proud to sing in the choir. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and especially liked cooking her Slovenian specialties such as Potica (walnut roll) and Vampe (tripe stew).

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Maria Grasic of Shelton; her granddaughter Ava Grasic of Westchester, NY; and many nieces and nephews in Slovenia and Australia. Mary was predeceased by her beloved son Ignac Igor Grasic and her brothers Karol, Pavle, Anton, Albert, Joze and Peter, and her sisters Angela and Franziska.

Her daughter thanks Dr Adrian Dafcik, Dr Robert Jumper, and the staff of St. Vincent's Medical Center for their care and compassion.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center, with burial to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
