Obituary of Susan Elizabeth Deer

Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Susan Elizabeth Deer (Kusheba), age 80, of Fairfield, beloved wife of Dennis Deer, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, daughter of the late John and Margaret Kusheba, Susan was a resident of Fairfield for most of her life. In her younger years, she worked for the Home Savings & Loan Bank. After her career as homemaker, mom, and grandma, she worked at So-Fro Fabrics. Sue enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking, especially during the holidays when she entertained a full house. Her grandsons were the biggest joy of her life. She loved classic movies, her pet cats, and going to the beach with family. Favorite moments also included traveling with Dennis, boat outings, trips to Disney World, and visiting family in Maine.

In addition to Dennis, her loving husband of 56 years, Sue leaves behind her children, Wendy Deer, and her fiancĂ©, Daniel Judson, of Ansonia, Peter Deer, and his wife, Zsuzsanna, of Fairfield, and Tracy Deer-Mirek, and her husband, Steve, of Stratford. She leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Peti and David Deer; sisters, Jane Cavoto, of Bridgeport and Christine Wellman, and her husband, Dana, of Turner, Maine; a brother, the late Richard Kusheba, of Woodstock, Maine; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

We are sincerely thankful to the staff at DaVita Black Rock who took such good care of Susan over the last five years. Extra-special thanks go out to our caring friends, the Bozzi family.
