Obituary of Lawrence S. McMahon Jr.

Lawrence S. McMahon (AKA; Larry, Papa, Mr. Fix It, Mr. Larry, LarBear, McDad) of Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully in his sleep, at Bridgeport Hospital, on March 26, 2023 at the age of 84. Larry was born in Norwalk, CT on May 9, 1938.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sally Ohlson McMahon; his daughter, Charlene Fullbright; his son, Lawrence (Larry) McMahon, and his wife, Kathleen. In addition, he is survived by four grandchildren, Matthew, Travis (and his companion Jaclynn), Caitlyn, and Ryan Mulligan; as well as, four great-grandchildren, Shane, Catalaya, Zaylee, and Jaiden Mulligan. Larry is predeceased by his father, Lawrence McMahon; mother, Jane Coffin McMahon; and his two sisters, Elizabeth Caney and Kathrine Crocker.

Larry was a retiree after 35 years of employment with the United Parcel Service. He also served in the United States Army. Upon retirement, he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, receiving Volunteer of the Year in 2008. Larry loved his granddogs and grandcats. He will be remembered most for his amazing sense of humor, contagious laugh and smile.

He will also be remembered for his love of children, animals, traveling, and cruising. He took great pride in his property and making sure there was plenty of food for the birds and squirrels. He was always there with a helping hand for family, friends, and neighbors. There wasn't any tool he didn't own or problem he couldn't fix.

There will be no formal services but rather a Celebration of Life party will be held at a later date, to be determined.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks for donations to be made to Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, 1542 Barnum Avenue, Bridgeport CT 06610 in his honor.
