Obituary of Regina S. LaCoursiere

Regina Saur LaCoursiere, age 89, of Bridgeport, wife of the late Richard LaCoursiere Sr., passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

Born in Oberndorf, Germany on January 25, 1934, daughter of the late Anton and Theres Speer Saur, Regina came to the United States on December 18, 1953. She married in Germany to her American Soldier that she met while he was stationed there. Not speaking a word of English, she went to night school for American citizenship and to learn English, after three years she received her American citizenship and paper which she was very proud of becoming an American.

Mrs. LaCoursiere had worked for the Casco Products Co. in Bridgeport as a quality control inspector. Regina also worked for the German Sport Club in Shelton in the kitchen and donated her time there together with her husband Rich. She loved all kinds of animals and enjoyed caring for her home and her gardens.

Regina is survived by her two children, Richard G. LaCoursiere, Jr and his wife Irene and Kathleen Hill, six grandchildren, Kendra LaCoursiere, Jinelle Stent and her husband Jeremy, Justin LaCoursiere, Matthew LaCoursiere and his wife Erica and Nicholas and Christopher Hill. Regina leaves behind her great-grandchildren Molly, Annabel and Jack Stent and Beau LaCoursiere as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, both here and in Germany.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5 at 11 am directly at St. Peter Church, 695 Colorado Ave., Bridgeport with burial to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-6 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society.
