Obituary of Josephine Turner
Josephine Ovja Turner, age 94, of Bridgeport, wife of the late Stephen Turner, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018.
Born and raised in Scranton, PA, daughter of the late Charles and Helen Rajune Ovja, Josephine later moved to Fairfield where she met her husband Stephen. There they raised their family and more recently relocated to the Black Rock section of Bridgeport. Josephine was a very active parishoner of Holy Cross Church where she enjoyed singing in the Church choir. She was a Eucharistic Minister for the Church, she belonged to the Holy Cross Ladies Guild, the KSKJ Society and was a willing volunteer preparing foods for the annual church picnic. Josephine enjoyed sewing and was most proud of caring for her family, her home and garden.
A loving wife, mother grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her children, Barbara Ciccia and her husband Ronald of Fairfield, Christine Howard and her husband William of Black Rock, Stephen Turner and his fiancee Jessica Haber of Shelton and Cynthia Lakatos and her husband John of Stratford. She leaves behind her grandchildren Michael Klein and his wife Donna, Justin Klein, Gabriel Howard and his wife Deniz and Jason Howard. Great-grandchildren Sophia, Lily, Michael, Dylan and Logan Klein as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings.
Funeral services will be held on FRIDAY at 10:30 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center and at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Dr., Fairfield. Burial to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. Friends may call on FRIDAY at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
