Obituary of John Calandriello

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John "Jack" Calandriello of Westport, Connecticut.

He was born on December 9th, 1939, in St. Albans, Long Island, New York, and passed away on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023, at the age of 83. Jack leaves his family and friends to mourn. Jack was predeceased by his parents, John J. and Maria (Caseria) Calandriello, daughter, Maria Angelica Calandriello, brother, Leonard Calandriello, and his cousin, John Altieri, whom his children and grandchildren fondly called "Uncle John".

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carmela (Cincotta) Calandriello, his daughter, Joanna L. and son-in-law, Kenneth Larkin of Norwalk, CT, his son, John D. and daughter-in-law Amy Calandriello of Fairfield, CT. He is also survived by: his grandsons, Colton and Chase Larkin, Daniel Calandriello, granddaughters, Giana and Madison Calandriello and sister-in-law, Alice Calandriello of East Haven, CT.

Jack grew up in Rowayton, Connecticut and kept in touch with the lifelong friends he made there. Fond memories were spent at Bailey Beach. Jack graduated from Norwalk High School, class of 1957. He had been a Westport resident since 1962.

He received his BA degree in Business Administration from West Virginia Wesleyan University.

Jack was extremely proud of his military service. He enlisted in the army during the Cuban conflict and spent his 3 years stationed at the Pentagon working for the Defense Intelligence Agency during the JFK and Johnson administrations. Jack was a purchasing manager for several companies in Connecticut; his job entailed him to make business trips to China, Japan, and Korea. His goal in life, however, was to make people laugh, and that he did.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Church of the Assumption, 98 Riverside Avenue, Westport, CT, on Wednesday, November 29th at 10:00 am. His burial with full military honors will follow at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport. In lieu of flowers, please consider an unexpected act of kindness in Jack's name and in remembrance to Jack "make someone laugh".
