Obituary of Frank Chizmadia

Frank C Chizmadia, 92 of Bridgeport, CT passed away on November 30, 2023 in his loving home.

Frank was born on November 28, 1930 in Fairfield CT to John & Barbara Chizmadia on a small farm located on Black Rock Turnpike. He was a caring, loving and dedicated man, especially to his family as a husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.

Frank leaves behind his son, John G Chizmadia, and significant other, Karen Larson:, daughter, Lisa M. Vincent, and son-in-law, Wayne Vincent; along with grandsons, John, Kevin, Cody, Chizmadia & David Redman; granddaughters, Rachael Chizmadia, Victoria, Julianna, and Alexandria Vincent; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by Rose, his wife and the love of his life; son Frank; brothers, John & Charles; and sisters, Mary & Ann.

After graduating from Ludlowe, Frank enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He served a tour of duty (Korean War) and held a brown belt in Judo. He was proud to serve his country and was always a Marine at heart (Semper Fi). Returning home, he started a career as a carpenter and went on to learn and develop his skills with blueprints and become a master builder. He built many homes and completed extensive renovations but his proudest moment came when he built the office building for Owens, Schine, and Nicola. He was always ready to lend a hand whenever someone needed something.

Frank was a Charter Member of the Fairfield Elks Lodge of which he traveled to many places throughout the United States for Elks Conventions with his loving wife, Rose. He held the title of Exalted Ruler several times and District Deputy. They truly enjoyed all the places and people they met along the way. The Fairfield Elks Lodge was known for their charity and he was invited to many charitable events. His favorite charity moment was with Newington Children's Hospital/Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Frank received notoriety from the hospital many times but the most memorable of all was receiving a hand drawn painting framed by a patient during the telethon which he proudly displayed in his home.

He loved his sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and was thrilled for the long awaited victory in 2004. He and Rose would always look forward to watching the UCONN Women's Basketball Team together.

"Our family would love to hear his stories, especially of where he grew up on Black Rock Turnpike. Everyday he would walk down the street to the meadow with his cow on his way to school and come back and get her when school was over for the day. Some other favorites include how he set pins in the bowling alley and worked in the Jewish Cemetery but the best was how he met his Rose and how they would dance. Anyone who knew them, knew they could clear the floor when they danced!"

Rest in peace, you are now where you wanted to be with your girl and family.

Funeral Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center (www.connecticutchildrens.org) are appreciated in memory of Frank.
