I was the new kid in town. Her and Mary Lee Fisher made the school along with the amazing staff into what is is. I get the warmest feelings thinking of her and my life would not be the same if she was not in it. What an educator, what a human. Hope to k

My sincerest condolences to all of Kathy’s friends and family. Her infectious smile and ability to light up a room with her personality will never be forgotten. I thank her for being a mentor in my life and showing what a true educational leader looks like. My heart breaks for all the lives she has touched. The world was a better place because she was in it. ❤️

Kathy was such a special light at Tokeneke School. She made every student feel included as a valued member of the school. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and her love for learning and overall fun helped make Tokeneke such a special place for our students. I will always remember her love of great costumes and special school spirit events! She will be greatly missed but we will never forget all the energy and passion she put into her work. Love, The Sheffield Family

Remembering Muffin (Kathy) and her infectious love for Nantucket - feeling lucky she shared that love with the family, bringing us together in Nantucket the past few summers. Those trips hold so many joyful, fun memories that I know we'll all cherish forever! If I ever get a chance to stop by Cisco Brewery again, I know Muffin will be right there with me!

Kathy was one of our best friends in high school. She was always smiling and so much fun; a true and genuine friend. We had many great adventures together hanging out, being silly and going to concerts (which we didn’t tell our parents about.) Life is so unfair. Gone so young. To all her family and friends, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Kathy, Miss Schultz, was my history teacher in 5th grade at Holmes. I loved learning from her she made everything fun and exciting! After I graduated she became my penpal where she would send me postcards from Missouri often. It meant the world to me and I still have some saved. Then I began working at Darien Public Schools as an adult and we reconnected now as co-workers. She still remembered me and always greeted me in the hallways with the biggest smile and presence ever. :) She will be very very missed!

Kathy was my biggest cheerleader. She got me out of a stressful apartment by being proactive and caring. She got me in to a place across the street from her before they had a chance to even list it for rent. And I loved being her neighbor. She became everything I needed and I hope I was able to return that to her. A friend to chat in the sun filled yard and unload a work day or complain about heartbreak, family to share a holiday meal with and offering good tidings without all the hoopla, just good (vegetarian) food and conversation. She cared for my daughter and dog in ways that I couldn't and let me take her dog on adventures with me and Josie everyday (even though Josie was a real bitch to him). We weren't just neighbors and friends, we were there for each other in whatever capacity was needed everyday and that was a beautiful relationship I had never experienced before meeting her. I could always count on her, she taught me how to lean into support and to trust. She always wanted to make my life better, less stressed and more joyful. She always had goodie bags for all the holidays for me and my girls filled with treats, gummy candies for Zoe and chewy snacks for Josie. She knew their favorites and that Josie didn't have all her teeth and could only have soft ones. She truly listened and cared. A gem of a human and I will cherish our time on Churchill St forever. I thank her for gifting me a true home while in Fairfield all those years. It would have just been shelter without her.

Thinking of our last visit together over the summer. Still smiling remembering our first stop at Colony Pizza having just arrived moments before from NYC at the Fairfield train station (and yes, she insisted we each get our own pizza!) followed by an afternoon filled with stories and laughter at her home. Over the years Kathy (Muffin) was the very best Aunt and Sister-in-Law bringing joy, always with an infectious smile, to all in the family. A constant teacher and champion for our kids as well as the many she taught over the years. Caryll
