Jimmy was certainly a one of a kind spirit. Humble and kind, he knew how to talk to anyone, and almost as importantly, he knew how to make everyone laugh. He will be deeply missed. Deepest condolences to his family and those who knew and loved him most.

When Jimmy would call me Mr. Beaver, he always made me smile.
I loved his kind spirit and his infectious laugh.
I’m so glad to have known him.

Mike and Annie and Casey family...I am very sad to hear about Jimmy. He was a good kid...I really don't know what to say. I am actually crying. Even when he was a kid he had a great sense of humor. You guys are in my thoughts today...

I’ve never seen Jimmy without his famous smile. He was so loved and loving and kind. Always ready to give advice and a hug. We lost a staple of the Black Rock community and we will all miss him so, so much and never forget him. I brought him non dairy sorbet when he had tonsillitis and, although he wanted icecream, appreciated that I took the time to bring that for him. Non dairy sorbet is better for tonsillitis anyway as I explained to him and he appreciated I thought of why I brought him that instead of icecream. I miss you, JC, and this all seems so surreal.

Jimmy was the worlds coolest guy. From his incredible skills with music to his knowledge of all sciences and his light he shined on others. Jimmy was the friend who was proud of you and saw more than just what was surface level. Although losing has broken many of our hearts we are all so fortunate to have had the opportunity to have him in our lives. Through everything he always kept it real. Jimmy I will cherish our memories forever and thank you for everything.

Jimmy Casey was a profound father, professor and overall human being. Jimmy’s core was pure and filled with a light and love for everything around him. Jimmy found the beauty in small things- he could name every type of tree, was excited to share his love for nature with us. Jimmy and I kayaked to the lighthouse right in black rock and we talked about one of his favorite authors, Tom robbins. I will be re reading skinny legs and all in honor of Jimmy. I am so grateful to have met jimmy, who was a support and light through my difficult times. To the Casey family- I love you all, very much and I know Jimmy is right there with you. Holding you with his light as you grieve. To jimmy- we will look for you in all the things you loved as we know you are still here.

Professor Casey was an amazing man and the best teacher I’ve ever had. He seemed to know the answer to every question I had, and his humor and incredible stories made every class even more enjoyable. He helped foster my love for nature, and I’ll never forget the things he taught me. My deepest condolences.

Professor Casey was the best teacher I’ve ever encountered. From the very first day I met him I told him I was deathly afraid of insects and his tarantula. He asked if I’d be willing to try to hold his tarantula and I agreed to it. That day he told me he knew I would be his favorite student, regardless of who else he told that to. He told me he was proud of me for collecting as many insects as I could for the project, with my fear. When he would see me he would always excitedly say hey even if he was on the phone. He began to feel like family, like my cool uncle. He was extremely funny and would play pranks on me in class. He wasn’t just a professor to me, he was like a friend. I could tell him anything. He was really excited to go on the class camping trip. He even wanted to cook us a big turkey. He had so many plans involving his future and it’s so upsetting that he didn’t get to achieve them.

After only knowing Jim Casey for a couple weeks and having him as a professor at the University of Bridgeport, I can say that he was a true light and fun person to be around! He made every class so fun, enjoyable, and made it so that you just wanted to stay in class forever! He will be missed! My thoughts and prayers are with the family!
