Obituary of Glen M. Szabo
Please share a memory of Glen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In loving memory of Glen Martin Szabo, age 62, we are saddened to announce his passing on February 8, 2024.
Glen, affectionately called "Chef" was born on April 28, 1961, to Alexander and Joan Szabo in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Glen worked at Alimak Elevator for 13 years. A graduate of the New York Restaurant School, Glen loved to cook for family and friends and was an expert at cooking Hungarian dishes like Stuffed Cabbage and Chicken Paprikash. An avid fisherman, Glen could often be found at St. Mary's by the Sea and Seaside Park catching bluefish. When he was not fishing or cooking, Glen enjoyed watching old westerns, a love of the genre he shared with his father, Alexander.
Glen was a passionate, creative, and eccentric storyteller, and his distinctive laughter and warm presence will be missed dearly. In his later years, Glen became known in the Szabo Household as "The Cat Whisperer," and was a Cat Dad to two, adorable gray cats named Sansa and Bingley.
Glen was predeceased by his mother, Joan Szabo, his father, Alexander Szabo; and his two brothers, Neil, and Mark Szabo. He is survived by his sister, Christina Szabo, Shelton, CT; his sister-in-law, Donna Szabo, Bridgeport, CT, his niece, Sarah Szabo, West Haven, CT, his nephews, Spencer Szabo, Los Angeles, CA, Ethan Szabo, Bridgeport, CT, and Steven Szabo, Prospect, CT, and Kat Szabo, North Hollywood, CA.
