Obituary of Frank Boemio

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frank Boemio, age 68, passed away on March 4, 2024, after a three-year battle with cancer. Frank was a strong and determined man who refused to let his diagnosis slow him down. No matter the pain or discomfort it caused, Frank did his best to attend all of his grandchildren’s events and continued to work until the last month of his life. Frank fought the entire three years, enduring surgeries, chemo, radiation, and even an experimental drug trial. His determination, faith, and family fueled him until his last day.

Frank was born on June 23, 1955, in the Bronx, NY, to Catherine and Peter Boemio. He was one of five brothers: Peter (Barbara), Michael (Fran), Mark (Linda) and John. Frank began his education at Our Saviors in the Bronx, NY, and continued at the School of Printing (high school) and John Jay (college). Soon after, Frank followed in his father’s footsteps and began his career in the food industry as a produce department worker in the CoOp City supermarkets. With hard work and determination, Frank rose to assistant manager and then manager before transferring to the Food Emporium after 20 years of service. Frank spent his remaining years working for Krasdale Foods. He began in 1993 as a retail specialist and rose to Director of Florida Retail Operations. Frank joined his love for the food industry and his strong Catholic Faith as a member and president of the Catholic Institute of the Food Industry. Through this organization, Frank led countless fundraising efforts that supported Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, New York.

Frank loved his family above all else. He was a loving husband to Donna Boemio (of Fairfield, CT) for 48 years. He had two daughters that he cherished, Kristin Eller (of Fairfield, CT) and Kathryn Bingman (of Norwalk, CT). He loved coaching both daughters through their basketball and softball careers. He was blessed to gain two amazing sons-in-law, William Eller (of Fairfield, CT) and Jon Bingman (of Norwalk, CT). Frank found a new purpose with the birth of his grandchildren, Chase and Avery Eller, and Raegan Bingman. His love for them and his desire to watch them grow and flourish is what kept him fighting.

Frank will be waked on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center, and the funeral mass will be on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
