Obituary of Albert Tirnadi Sr.

Please share a memory of Albert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Albert Tirnadi Sr., of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday,  March 21, 2024, in his home.

Al was a devoted and loving husband and was pre-deceased by his wife, Pearl, whom he married for 64 years. Al was also pre-deceased by brothers, William Tirnadi, of Stratford and Lester Tirnady, of Bridgeport; and is survived by his son, Albert Tirnadi Jr.

Al grew up in the West End of Bridgeport, pitched a lot of baseball, and graduated from Bassick High School.  Al served with the 63rd Medical Depot Company of the US Army in Europe during World War II. Al completed a Tool and Die Maker internship with the General Electric company of Bridgeport and worked for the Moore Special Tool Company in Bridgeport as a Manager and Tool Specialist for 35 years.

Al was a lifetime member of the First United Church of Christ and was a member of the Fairfield Senior Center, where he enjoyed daily ping-pong matches with the gang. He was a lifelong sports fan, especially fond of the Red Sox, Mets, Giants, and Jets, and was also a devoted follower of UConn Women's and Men’s basketball. Post-retirement, Al enjoyed many hours of surf fishing on the shorelines of Fairfield, Stratford, and Westport. Al had a great sense of humor and an overall kindness, which he revealed to everyone he met. Al will be remembered in our hearts forever.

Friends may greet his family on Tuesday, March 26th, from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. at the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Reverend Susan Pfiel will officiate a service at 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Al's burial with full Military Honors will take place at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield.
