Obituary of Frances L. Luciani
Frances Luciani, age 100, died peacefully the morning of January 23, 2019, at Carolton Chronic & Convalescent Hospital, in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Born in Scranton, PA., the only girl in a family of 7 boys, she was a caretaker and second mother to her adoring brothers. As a member of “the greatest generation,” she became a war bride when she married Victor Luciani, who went directly to war and was away for five years while Frances remained in Connecticut and worked to contribute to the nation’s war effort. Frances was active in St. Pius X church activities all her life and for many years attended mass daily. She was an excellent homemaker and cook, hosting dozens of summer parties both at Lake Wallenpaupack in PA and her home in Fairfield. Loving and accepting everyone, she was famous for her gourmet Italian fare, especially on holiday gatherings. Most important to Frances was family, and friends of family. She was a true lady, principled, warm and kind, loved by all who knew her.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, Victor. Left to honor her memory are her four children, Christine (Randy) Cochran of Wurtsboro, NY, Robert T. (Mildred) Luciani of Fairfield, Linda Luciani of Hyde Park, NY, and Michael (Susan) Luciani of Atlanta, GA. She will be missed by her six grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27 in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the St. Pius X Faith Center, 834 Brookside Dr., Fairfield. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
