Obituary of Theresa McMahon
Please share a memory of Theresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa "Teri" (Auger)
McMahon on November 5th, 2024 at Charter Senior Living in Orange, Connecticut.Teri, age 89, refused to grow old gracefully; she successfully fought it every step of the way!
Teri was born on May 22, 1935 in Manchester, New Hampshire, the oldest child of Harvey J Auger, Sr and Mary K (Panchok) Auger. She grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut and graduated from Bassick High School, continuing onto the Barbizon School of Modeling in New York City. In 1955, she met William "Bill" McMahon at the A & P in Bridgeport, abandoned her modeling career to marry him, and went on to have four children: Debbie DelBuono (Gary) of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; Brien McMahon (Amy) of Naples, Florida and Lordship; Theresa Bardes (Tony Swanson) of Stratford and Laurie Therrien (Tony) of Lancaster, South Carolina, who will all miss her terribly. She also has 10 cherished grandchildren, Billy, Dr. Mike, Colin, Connor & Mackenzie McMahon, DJ, Nick, & Brett DelBuono, Emily Therrien and Jack Swanson; and 10 great-grandchildren: Kahlyn, Aiden, Mila, Cal & Ella McMahon, Kendall, Tessa, Adaline & Luca DelBuono, and Liam Brasington, with two more on the way! Teri will also be missed by her brother, Harvey J Auger (Abbey) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; her brother-in-law, Robert McMahon (Betsy) of Fairfield, her brother-in-law Kevin McMahon (Eileen) of Frederick, Maryland, her close friend Anita "Nancy" McCain of Stratford, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband of 54 years, Teri was predeceased by
her sister Judith Kinsella, her sister-in-law Maureen (McMahon) Halica,
two nephews, Jimmy Kinsella & Brian Kinsella, and her close friend Don Millberry.
By far the most treasured times in Teri's life were spent with her family. She
lived for her children! She was active in all her children's PTA's and attended
as many of her children's, and later her grandchildren's, athletic events,
recitals and plays as possible. She always arranged for memorable family
vacations when her children were young, and traveled around the world with her husband when the children were older, bringing home souvenirs for everyone. Every holiday was special, with decorations and family celebrations. She loved to host parties, greeting each guest with a martini in hand, and when she attended other people's parties, she was the first to arrive and the last to leave. Although her husband and children were her first priority, Teri was able to contribute to a successful real estate business (Auger-McMahon Realty) with her mother, sister, and sister-in-law, Maureen. She had additional success later on, after realizing there was a shortage of real estate appraisals in her area, and starting A & M Appraisals. She also contributed her time and talents to many charities and charitable clubs, serving as President of the Soroptomists International for many years, and a board member of United Cerebral Palsy of Connecticut.
Teri spent decades of winters at her condo in Boynton Beach, Florida, where she
served on the condo board and became infamous for her St Patrick's Day parties, 50's hops, and fashion shows, and where she made many close friends. Teri was very artistic and creative and took great pride in her homemade greeting cards filled with
personalized pictures and poems, which everyone looked forward to receiving on
special occasions. It is hard to believe that this whirlwind of a personality is
no longer with us!
