Obituary of Olga Takacs

Olga Kerekes Takacs, age 98, of Bridgeport, wife of the late John J. Takacs, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Born in Bridgeport on April 25, 1918, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Sayben Kerekes, Olga was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. She was proud to have been in the very first graduating class of Bassick High School in 1936 while also attending the Ct State Trade School. She went on to work for the Bryant Electric Co. of Bridgeport for over 30 years until her retirement. Olga was a longtime member of the United Church of Christ, she enjoyed gardening and was a talented seamstress. Olga was very proud of her Hungarian heritage and loved to speak the langauge with anyone she could. Her favorite song was Az a szép akinek a szeme kék. It is a song about a pretty girl with blue eyes and Olga had blue eyes. She sang it all the time and made everyone smile. Olga is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband John, she was predeceased by her son, Robert, a brother John R. Kerekes and sisters Elsie Valentine and Irma Hudak. Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 25 at 12 noon at Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ.
