Obituary of Joseph Andrew Rescsanski

Joseph Andrew Rescsanski, age 101, of Trumbull, devoted husband to the late Irene E. (Nagy) Rescsanski, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2019.

Born in Desire, PA on December 21, 1917, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Kopcso) Rescsanski. He graduated from high school in New York City while living with his family in the Bronx prior to moving back to Bridgeport.  

Joe started working at Dictaphone Corporation where his technical skills and abilities were recognized. He then joined the US Army in 1944 during WW II and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp supervising the installation of airfield communications systems for the Bermuda and Iceland Base Commands. After his service to the country, Joe attended the University of Bridgeport where he acquired an Engineering degree while working at Dictaphone. From there Joe advanced to Chief Mechanical Engineer, where he was proud of the many patents credited to him.  He also later worked for CBS Records contributing his expertise with audio recording and production.

He met his wife and one true love, Irene Elizabeth Nagy, at a wedding in 1948 and danced with her the whole night.  They married in 1951, and built their forever home in Trumbull, CT., where they raised 6 children. Joseph was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.

In the 1970’s, Joe started a second career in commercial real estate for The Investor’s Mortgage Company in Bridgeport, CT. as their Certified Property Manager and Assistant Vice President. He also served in various capacities on the Bridgeport Board of Realtors including a term as President.  He was active member of St Theresa church in Trumbull, CT. and was a tenor in the church choir, which he loved, until he was 96 years old. He served many years as an Assistant Scout Master for St Theresa’s Troop 68 in Trumbull and later was Scout Master for Troop 68 from 1977 – 1984, where he enjoyed teaching the boys about camping, fishing and life skills.  He was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award; a council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America given to adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through many years of service given to the council.

Joe is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren including his son, Joseph R. Rescsanski & his wife Alice (Wagner) Rescsanski of Trumbull, their son Matthew Rescsanszky & his wife Kate (Craddock) Rescsanszky of Stratford; his son, Paul J. Rescsanski & his wife Krista (Luckner) Rescsanski of Southington, their son Kenneth Rescsanski & his wife Beth (Roach) Rescsanski & great grandson Callum of Wethersfield, CT., daughter Britt (Rescsanski) Lynch & husband Raymond Lynch, & great grandson Michael of Rocky Hill; his son, Peter A. Rescsanski & his wife Christina (Weiss) Rescsanski of Fairfield,  and their daughters Jessica Rescsanski & Sarah Rescsanski; his daughter, Susan Rescsanski Canada of Easton, and her daughter Margaret (Canada) Connelly & husband Brian Connelly of Pittsburgh, PA, and her son Paul Canada of Easton; his son, John M. Rescsanski & his wife Debbie (Morreale) Rescsanski of Middlebury, and their daughter Lauren, and sons Charles & James; his son, James C. Rescsanski & his wife Lee Anne (Bulkovitch) Rescsanski of Woodbury, and their daughter Aimee Rescsanski of Seattle, WA., daughter  Allison Rescsanski & son Ryan Rescsanski of Woodbury. Joseph is also survived by his sister Mary (Rescsanski) Ohradan of Easton, his brother-in-law: Louis Nagy and his wife Sherrie of Corvallis, OR. along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his beloved wife Irene, Joe was predeceased by his brothers (baby) John, James, John, Frank, and Steve; sisters Anne (Rescsanski) Kutnik and Irene J. Rescsanski, all of Bridgeport, and nephew Robert Rescsanski of Fairfield.

We are thankful to Dad’s amazing, loving, and caring companions; Arlene Totes, Terry Ann Cervone, and Ricardo Rodriquez, all of Trumbull. Nothing was more important to Joe than his family and his Church. He leaves them with the legacy of devotion to each other, to God, and he instilled in them a solid work ethic and love of country.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM in Saint Theresa Church, Trumbull. Interment with military honor will immediately follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
