John Paul Santolupo, beloved husband of Marianne Vasta Santolupo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2019. Born on March 29, 1930 in Bridgeport, John was the son of the late Pellegrino and Julia Santolupo. He graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport in 1948. Called to service during the Korean War, John was a crew member on board the tender USS Grand Canyon. While on leave in Chicago, John met Marianne, and they married in 1955 and settled down in Fairfield. John earned his Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bridgeport University in 1965. His career spanned 35 years working as a Program Manager at United Technologies. John enjoyed the many friendships he cultivated there along with the business travel, both near and far. He was a member of the Bridgeport Boat Owners Assoc. and Port 5 Naval Club. John was an avid fisherman who loved to compete in local tournaments with his fishing buddies, resulting in fresh fish for many family dinners. He was also an active member of Holy Cross Church. John had a passion for luxury cars, travel, swimming, and the New York Yankees. He tinkered on endless Do-It-Yourself household projects and enjoyed working outside on his lawn and gardens. John looked forward to large family gatherings and cooking Italian dishes, especially linguini and calamari. He was very active in his grandchildren's lives. John will be missed by his three children, Michael Santolupo (Karen) of Bristol, RI, Jill Hooper (Michael) of Fairfield, CT, and James Santolupo of Newport, RI and five grandchildren, Anthony, Emma, and Thomas (Lauren) Santolupo and Emily and Jane Hooper. He is also survived by his sister Helen Valovcin of Framingham, MA. and brother Arthur Santolupo of Bridgeport, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by her siblings Dominic Santolupo, Carmella Zega, August Santolupo, Olga Chaco, Gloria Liberto, and Julia McGovern. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 19th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 20th at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield.
