Obituary of Gladys A. Phillips

Gladys A. Phillips, age 91, of Milford, beloved wife to the late Edward A. Phillips, passed away on April 25, 2017. Gladys will be remembered by her family including six children, Deborah Phillips of Wallingford, Cynthia Mahmud and her husband, Ahmedin, of Stratford, Thomas Phillips and his wife, Erika, of Milford, Martin Phillips of Stratford, Eleanore Spitzer and her husband, Joseph, of Monroe, James Phillips and his wife Cheryl, of Milford; loving Nana to 10 grandchildren, Michael Glidden and his wife Shauna, Matthew Glidden, Jibreel and Yasmine Mahmud, Brian and Carol Phillips, Victoria Phillips, Jeffrey, Elise, and Russell Spitzer; three great grandchildren, Eleanor and Jessica Glidden, Robert Simon' several nieces and nephews. In addition to Edward, her devoted husband of 57 years, Gladys was predeceased by her siblings, Zoltan (Skip) Angyal, Margaret Flug, Ethel Kozma, Frances Angyal, and Eleanor Angyal. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Ethel Angyal. She was a resident of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport before moving to Milford in 1995. A retired Registered Nurse, Gladys worked for Bridgeport Hospital, D.M. Read Company, and Chance Vought company. She was a member of Saint Ann Parish in the Black Rock. While her family was her greatest life passion, Gladys certainly loved to shop, read, play cards, travel and follow both the UConn Women's Basketball team and the New York Yankees. She was always ready to discuss current world and political news with her family and friends. Her memory as a loving, dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will be embraced by her family. A private graveside committal service will be held later next week in Saint Mary Cemetery in Milford.
