A wonderful father, brother, uncle, and teacher, Richard Mitchell Bliss Jr. passed away on March 4th, 2020. Born in New York City May 12th 1957, the son of Richard Bliss Sr. and Virginia Bliss, Rick grew up in Wilton, Connecticut. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1975. He attended Princeton University in 1979 where he majored in English, rowed crew, wrote for the student newspaper, and directed several drama productions. After Princeton, he taught at the International College in Beirut. He received his Masters in English from Stanford in 1982. Rick worked in finance before becoming a teacher and tutor in New Jersey. An avid reader, Rick loved James Joyce, P.G. Wodehouse, and T.S. Eliot. Rick was a longtime summer resident of Southport, Maine where he was often found messing about in boats, reading outside, and working on a variety of home improvement projects.
