Obituary of Mary Tropsa

Mary Puskas Tropsa, age 98, formerly of Bridgeport, wife of the late John Tropsa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2020. Born and raised in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Vincent and Anna Danko Puskas, Mary was a Bridgeport resident for most of her life. She had worked for the Bullard Co. for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed swimming, reading, painting landscapes, knitting, singing, walking along St. Mary's by the Sea. But she truly loved baking and cooking amazing but complicated Hungarian meals which required lots of time and effort. She had a passion & aptitude for growing the best roses & pears on Lenox Ave. Every act or duty was embraced with passion and dedication. Every moment was lived to the fullest and cherished to the end. Mary has an unfinished oil painting of a tower in Europe and scarves lovingly knitted for holiday gifts this year. She was generous with her time daily and to anyone who needed her. She listened intently to all. Whether fishing with her grandchildren or out to dinner, she was always well coifed & classy. Mary loved St. Emery's and drove lady friends to church. She so wanted to drive again last week. All efforts were accomplished with her heart, soul and much vim and vigor. Mary loved and embraced the Hungarian, Czech languages and culture, raising children in a similar European household. Hungarian was her second language. Mary dedicated her entire life to her family and extended family. She adored her grandchildren whose lives she took great pride in. She loved her great grandchildren visits and stories. Mary is survived by her daughters, Linda Koch, of Monroe and Mary Beth Varjas, of Fairfield. Her flame will burn forever for us, her vision never quite out of our sight. Although fraught and bereft we will mend our broken road as she would want and pave a path filled with gardens. Also survived are her so loved and adored grandchildren, Michael, Thomas, Ryan, Christopher and Emily. She spent much time with them and had numerous adventures. Her days speckled with discovering their interests as though opening a new Treasure Chest every day. She easily meshed her life with theirs, much revolved around her good values & fun. Grandma always their pillar of strength and adventure, she brilliantly bridged gaps to daily become one of them. Her great grandchildren, Allie, Cassidy and Amelia. Grandma was their shooting star lighting up their sky with her creativity and words. Mary will join her spouse, John, and her so loved mother, Anna, who truly sits among the angels in heaven. We will try and stem the tide of grief suppressing the sting of tears. Mom you left much to all of us enriching our lives as we continue your dreams through ours. We all thank you for you it. We will now experience the miracle of unconditional love and stand witness to the fact that her life continues through us. We have her memories to know what she'd have said or advised and will cherish those moments. She'll remain right there with us. That's the miracle of the soul that death has no power over and no ability to take away.
