Obituary of Sandra Lee Zemola

Please share a memory of Sandra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Sunday, October 4, 2020, Sandra "Sandy" Lee Zemola, peacefully entered eternal rest. Sandy was born January 19, 1963 in Bridgeport, CT, to Frank and Bonnie (Benedetti) Zemola. Growing up in Easton, CT, she attended Joel Barlow High School in Redding, CT, and received her A.S. degree in hotel and restaurant management from Endicott College in 1983. Following various management positions in the hospitality industry, Sandy later joined her family's business, Fairfield Lighting & Design as a lighting designer and showroom manager. In keeping with her passion for design and helping her clients achieve their visions, true to her entrepreneurial spirit, Sandy opened and ran her own lighting business, Wilton, Lamp, Light and Shade, for a number of years before returning to her Fairfield roots. She continued her creative career with Klaff's, and later as lighting director at Plimpton & Hills, until her health deteriorated. In addition to her design expertise, Sandy also held her Real Estate license with William Raveis, and was an active agent in Fairfield County. Combing all her life's education and experiences, when she was not participating on bocce ball and bowling teams, Sandy's favorite endeavor was hosting dinner parties for her family and friends, which she did with great gusto. Anyone fortunate enough to have been at Sandy's table will have a plethora of cherished memories to behold. Her menus and table décor were eclipsed only by her beauty and flair for fashion. Many a time her late Gramma Ben would say, "You've got the knack, kid!" referring to Sandy's bold and becoming style. Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Fusé; maternal grandparents James and Louise Benedetti; paternal grandparents Frank and Adora Zemola, aunt Nancy Kells-Murphy; uncle Robert Graham; and step-mother, Margie Neverdousky-Zemola. Sandy is survived by her beloved and devoted fiancée, Carlo D'Uva, of Middlebury, CT; father Frank Zemola and his wife, Marlese Days, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brother James, his wife Christine, and their children, Griffin and Kelly Zemola, all of Fairfield, CT; brother, Gary Zemola of Newtown, CT; sister, Sharon Lynn (Sebastiano Bonaccorso) of Philadelphia, PA; aunts, Susan (Michael) Guarino of The Villages, FL, Priscilla Graham of Austin, AR and Carolyn (James) Covert of Delray Beach, FL; and numerous, cherished cousins and their children. Known for sharing the word of the Lord in both her words and her actions, Sandy lived her life with Christ at the helm. She never let her private battle with brain cancer derail her from her faith. Sandy's greatest earthly blessing was the love she and Carlo had for each other, and their shared, unshakeable faith. It is through this gift that hearts will be comforted with uplifting and everlasting memories of Sandra Lee Zemola.
