Madeline Pearl Saxonmeyer, age 93, of Westport, wife of the late Robert Sterling Saxonmeyer, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
Born in Norwalk, the eldest of twelve children to the late John and Pearl Hornyak Dooling , Madeline was a lifelong Westport Town resident. She had worked for Surgical Associates of Westport for many years until her retirement in 1998. Madeline loved the water and spending time on the beach. In the summer you could find her at Burying Hill, where she was a proud and devoted member of the "High Tide Club". She spent many summer days swimming in Long Island Sound and loved being with the other members of the club she so cherished. many winters were spent on the shores of Fort Lauderdale, Florida with her beloved husband, Bob.
Madeline enjoyed walking along Southport Beach, helping to tag Horseshoe crabs and just being out in nature. In her free time, Madeline liked to help create books in braille for the visually impaired and giving her time for charity work with the Westport Womens Club during the Christmas season. More than anything else, her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline M. Wyslick of Fairfield and Gwendolyn Purcell of Westport, grandchildren Chrissy Wyslick Hayes and her husband Joe of Norwalk, Kelly Wyslick of Westport and Robert Brosius and his wife Laura of Sandy Hook. She leaves behind her great grandchildren Corey Hayes of Norwalk and Brady and Caitlyn Brosius of Sandy Hook as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services were held privately in the care of the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
