Obituary of Nora Hoag
Please share a memory of Nora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nora Ghianuly Hoag, age 78, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 17, 2020, with her loving family by her side.
Born and raised in Bridgeport, daughter of the late George and Edith Proxa Ghianuly, Nora was a Shelton Town resident for many years. She had worked as a hairstylist and had been the proprietor of Nora's Hair Company since 1986. Nora truly enjoyed her work and more so the friendships that she made over the years. Nora was a very loyal and dedicated member of St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, where she belonged to the Parish Council, Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered with the kitchen crew for various church events.
She liked going to the beach, St. Mary's by the Sea, shopping and cooking for her family. Nora would also take her family for rides through Bridgeport and reminisce about days gone by. More than anything, she loved the time that she could spend with her grandchildren. A loving mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her partner Tony Clericuzio, children, George Hoag and his companion Dorothy Canal of Alstead, NH, Alexandrea Fair and her husband Jeff and Nicole English and her husband Patrick, all of Shelton. She leaves behind her precious grandchildren Jeffrey Fair Jr. and Thomas Fair and Kylie, Luke and Colin English, brothers Leo Ghianuly and his wife Louise of St. Petersburg, FL, and Van Ghianuly and his wife Datev of Phoenix, AZ, a sister in law Carolyn Ghianuly of Bridgeport, nephews Jason and Jake Ghianuly and Patrick Hammill and nieces Jessica Ghianuly and Janet Hammill. She was predeceased by her brother Tom Ghianuly.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 22 at 11 am directly at St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. There will be no prior calling hours and due to covid restrictions, only family members and close friends of Nora are invited.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Dimitrie Church. Nora's family would like to express their deep gratitude to her dedicated staff and friends Cheryl Ciambriello, Debbi Gibson, and Vickie DeNitto for keeping the Salon going these past months, to Dr. Berard and his team, and especially to Fr. George Coca and Protessa Maryann for their visits caring for her body and soul and to all her many dear friends for their outpouring of support during this very difficult time.
